How to use my own font

You can upload your own font directly from the font picker in the Playground.

Step 1: open the font picker

Step 2: click the upload button

The fonts you upload will be added to the “My Fonts” section so you can use them for any other keycaps set.

Are variable fonts supported

No, variable fonts are not supported at the moment. You’ll need to use static font files instead.

The kerning of my font looks off

Yeah, we’ve seen this too — it’s a limitation of the rendering library we use. Some fonts don’t kern properly inside the Playground. Unfortunately, there’s no fix for this just yet.

Where can I find fonts online

Here are some great places to explore fonts:

• Google Fonts — Classic, reliable, with lots of styles
• Uncut — High-quality original fonts, smaller selection
• FontShare — Well-designed, modern fonts with wide character support
• DaFont — Massive library, but quality varies a lot

💡 Always check the font’s license before using it in a printed product like a keycap set.

What font license do I need

If you’re using a free font, you’re usually good — but double-check the license! Some fonts don’t allow commercial use or physical reproduction. If the font has a restrictive license, make sure it allows you to print it on goods like keycaps.

What is the font used by GMK

GMK’s original Cherry keycaps use a variant of Helvetica Rounded Bold.
