Here are the common questions we get regarding the usage of custom images for Yuzu:
First, make sure the key you want to place your image on uses a template that includes an icon.
When on the “labels” tab, click here tu change the template
Select a template that includes an icon
Click the icon to change it
There are many icon libraries to choose from. You may find a cool icon in one of them! If not, you can click the “upload” button in the top right, and select your own SVG image:
For now you can only upload SVG format. This is a vector format, that allows for a very high quality image, compatible with both print and web.
We recommend using Figma, a very powerful design tool, free to use for personal use.
We can’t teach you how to use a design software in this FAQ, but here are some hints:
Always include vector only items ℹ️ Do not paste in bitmap images (JPG, PNG, GIF)
Colors will be ignored, so don’t bother configuring them in Figma ℹ️ You will be able to set your legends color after importing the SVG in the customization app
Strokes, text and shapes (circles, rectangles, etc) are ignored UNLESS you follow those 2 steps before exporting (scroll down for an example):
Export as SVG format, consider using the preview to make sure everything is included. ℹ️ You can include your items in a frame (F), and select the frame before opening the Export panel in the bottom right
Let’s consider the design below. It includes some text (green), various shapes (grey), and strokes (black), and we want to include this is a custom image on our keycap set. (Why not?)
Wow, such beauty!
All items selected to highlight their characteristics
This is the result after import in Yuzu. As you can see, some shapes are imported (Figma customs) but some are not (circles and rects, that are native SVG features). Strokes have been ignored as you can see on the custom shape.
